7 Quotes: Defining Joy in Our Lives

*** 7 quotes to consider about how we live our joy.

*** Views today: 7,542 and Thank You!

From Denny: Joy is one of those human experiences that everyone knows and has experienced yet we have a tough time defining it. Joy seems elusive to define in words but we all know that moment when it occurs.

Joy is a state which lives inside us all. Sometimes, because of outward situations and circumstances, we lose touch with our joy. When difficult times come into our lives they can often erode our connection with our inner joy - if we allow it. Never allow anyone or any situation to take your joy.

Negative experiences only have power when we give away our authority to it. When we experience anger, sorrow, fear and hurt it's important to ride through that moment and then shed those negative emotions. Negative emotions are useful to help make us acutely aware of something requiring our attention - then release them. The joy is always there for it is eternal and infinite.

Experiencing lasting joy is accomplished when we cultivate the Divine Presence within us. Constantly nurturing our awareness of that connection strengthens us and keeps our attitude positive.

Joy is this indescribable beauty, stronger felt within that can be lived every day, no matter what is going on around us. Take some time each day to acknowledge your connection to the Divine - and smile, knowing you are living in the vast limitless moment of Joy!

Quotes

Joy is strength
Joy is love
Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls. - Mother Teresa (1910 - 1997)

The only joy in the world is to begin. - Cesare Pavese (1908 - 1950)

Do not judge men by mere appearances; for the light laughter that bubbles on the lip often mantles over the depths of sadness, and the serious look may be the sober veil that covers a divine peace and joy. - Edward Chapin

Learning to live in the present moment is part of the path of joy. - Sarah Ban Breathnach

I cannot believe that the inscrutable universe turns on an axis of suffering; surely the strange beauty of the world must somewhere rest on pure joy! - Louise Bogan

How Is Your Aim In Life?

*** How high - or how limited - are your goals in Life?

*** Views today: 17,510 and Thank You!

From Denny: C. S. Lewis is another one of those spiritual writers - in yet another generation - whose wisdom still rings true today. So often people just don't place their vision high enough in Life and then wonder why they are so disappointed when good things don't happen for them.

When we give ourselves purposeful higher visions of the soul as our aspirations then we are never disappointed as Life unfolds. When we limit ourselves to a small vision that can be the realm of the self-absorbed or self-centered then we are sure to be disappointed. To feel fulfilled we must reach out to others outside of ourselves and beyond our immediate family and friends.

If you don't have the money or time for specialized charity work, don't worry. Your prayers of goodwill for strangers you may never meet all over the world is the most powerful charity you can do. Trust it that there are strangers on the other side of the world who are also praying good things for you! It's that Law of Reciprocity in action as a universal spiritual principle.

* Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither. - C. S. Lewis

How Do You Assess Change in Yourself?

*** A simple truth so easy to do for ourselves.

From Denny: When you are a serious student of spirituality - it is easy to forget that in all the striving to develop - it's often a great idea to stop long enough to check out your progress. This quote made me laugh in its simple truth!

In the early stages when you are applying yourself to personal growth it is not so easy to flow with the Spirit so you miss the obvious sometimes. When you finally do get in tune with Spirit you are taken to inner places naturally and with ease.

The most profound way to assess your growth is to return to a place in your past, like a school or hometown that has not changed. It will quickly become clear how much you have grown and changed since you left. You will even be amused at how much your thoughts have grown in awareness.

There is no wistful sadness of what you left behind but rather a joyful celebration of what you learned to embrace that benefits the good of all.

Quote

* There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered. - Michael Fry and T. Lewis, "Over the Hedge"

How Do We Prepare Ourselves For Change?

*** Thoughts on how to get started on the road to embracing Change fearlessly.

From Denny: The subject of change has both intrigued and frightened humanity from the very beginning of Time. We create order in our societies by setting up boundaries, laws and rules of behavior. Eventually, those laws - and societal expectations - become rigid, pushing back against necessary healthy change.

Change is the vehicle to take us to our path of growth, personally and societally. When change is denied too long the transformation process can be violent. We experienced that as a country here in America when we finally decided to grow past the societal ill of slavery and it created a Civil War of many long years.

The same is true of personal growth in the area of change. If we deny small changes over a long period of time, then we are overdue, and it can be traumatic when change flips us over and spanks us for being so late to the party.

Every day for the next week, take about 10 minutes to consider current change in your life. Perhaps consider changes you would like to make. Start small with something as benign as cleaning out a cluttered kitchen or bathroom drawer.

What you will find with a small project like this is how it will trigger memories and previous thoughts you did not have the time previously to spend contemplating. It's like you pull up this short internal "To Do" List. It gives your mind time free to roam, think deeply and ultimately rest.

If you spend a few minutes like this contemplation every day - or a few times a week - you will benefit. How will you benefit? You will become more emotionally and mentally flexible. It's that flexibility that helps us adapt quickly when change comes our way.

This deep thinking helps build you a strong spiritual foundation as you are profoundly connected with your spiritual self at this time. It's your special place of acceptance and warm hospitality any time of the day or night upon which you can draw when needed as if it were a deep well: your spirit.

Quote

* It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not. - Heraclitus (540 BC - 480 BC), from Diogenes Laertius, Lives of Eminent Philosophers

How Does Change Crash Into Our Lives to Build Anew?

*** Why do the confident among us find it easy to embrace change?

From Denny: Have you ever thought about the concept of change as just a neutral subject? Hard to do for us human types, isn't it? :)

The spiritual energy of change is much like a car. It is neither good nor bad but rather it is who is at the driving wheel that determines our destination. How we drive our "vehicle of change" is determined solely by our attitude and world outlook.

That's why it's important to purposefully focus upon positive events and remembrances in our personal experiences. The negative will easily be remembered. The problem of those negative experiences is that it speaks to holding onto and recycling negative dark energy for too long. That practice causes terrible imbalance in us.

Holding and caressing positive beautiful energy only seeks to energize us with more Life and Hope. So, when change comes into our lives - and it surely will - it is easier to be flexible and adapt purposefully in a fulfilling way that brings us happiness.

Quote

* Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better. - James Gordon, M.D.

Why Smiling is Good For Your Spiritual Health: 7 Quotes About Smiling

*** 7 delightful smile quotes to give you a boost today!

From Denny: Smiling. It comes naturally. You would think no one had to remind us to smile, now would you? Yet the pressures of Life can crowd in our good attitude, squeezing it so small sometimes. How to counteract that problem? Just smile. It's that simple.

When I was a teenager my father was stationed in Taiwan and we lived with him. While I went to an American boarding school I had the chance to meet an unusual man: a very old Taoist master. He was one of those rare recluses that usually lived high up in the mountains of the country and never came down to the cities. Most of his countrymen heard of him as a powerful legend and had never set eyes on him.

He wasn't a hermit; he was a Taoist spiritual master. And he said he came down from the mountain to teach me. I was honored yet still a bit young to fully understand just how pivotal that moment was in my life but I fully appreciated it and thanked him. His gender bigoted apprentices were less than enthused. He pressed on. And one of those simple concepts he taught me was about The Inner Smile.

One of things I enjoyed about learning from the Chinese and Old Master (I couldn't pronounce his name then) was how their minds moved. They were fellow conceptual thinkers and it was easy for me to follow their line of thought. They fully embraced ultimate simplicity because they knew the power in it. So when I tell you that there is power in the simple exercise of The Inner Smile it is true. Basically, what you are doing is reaffirming Life, validating yourself as worthy to live and balancing your spiritual energy by focusing it upon your heart and inner health. That's it.

All you do is close your eyes and visualize looking inward at yourself. You literally smile at every part of yourself you "see" in your visualization. Do that for 15 minutes a day and you will not suffer from depression, anger or worry when stressful times come. Keeping your spiritual energy balanced helps you when Life challenges approach and you take a journey in a Life test to learn more about yourself and the role of living the life of a spiritual being in the Universe.

Destress: 3 Great Encouragement Quotes

*** Learn new coping strategies from others who have experienced adversity.

From Denny: Have you ever taken note that some of the best quotes for encouraging us to take heart when faced with tough times always come from people who have experienced long term adversity? President Abraham Lincoln, president during the Civil War years and assassinated, knew adversity even before he came into office. He ran in 69 political races and finally won.

He was president over a bitterly divided country at war against itself far worse than we see now. Unbelievable but true. Lincoln also experienced the deep sorrow of losing a young son to illness while in the White House. The First Lady went into such grief that she never came out of mourning. All this going on inside his family while he still had a country to calm down and quit killing themselves.

To handle long term stress it helps to catch your balance by devising coping skills you can use on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. That can involve the little things that bring you joy and lift your spirits. It could be something as simple as cooking a favorite meal, trying out a new recipe, getting in the car and traveling some remote country road to take photos of whatever you happen to come upon. For some it could be playing a favorite sport like pick-up basketball every week at a regularly scheduled time, going to your kid's soccer games or joining an interest group where you can share what you are doing and be inspired by what other members are creating.

It also helps to create a long term strategy to help you through months and years of rebuilding your life. That involves systematically getting your head in the game with a life philosophy that helps create a strong mindset. We need the strong pivot point of a belief so we can securely plant our feet into that foundation to help us live practically day to day. Those thoughts keep us hopeful and positive. When times look grim we can refocus our thoughts upon our core beliefs to help settle our emotions and get through the day. In a long term strategy - to deal successfully with stress - it's all about getting through the moment, getting through the day to live another day. Each day adds up creating the moments of your life.

Eventually, Life improves and the worries fade away over time. It's the transition that can be difficult if you don't have a good plan. A good plan involves constantly filling yourself with positive thoughts while you deal with each day. Keeping your attitude balanced and positive is 90 percent of the battle. When you are in a good mood it helps you to see what steps to take next to resolve issues as you go through the process.

Most long term stressful situations require a series of steps involving problem-solving strategies. Just when you handle one problem it seems yet another arises. That's when you focus upon your successes. Take a good look at each problem and your success to see clearly the pattern of the journey of where the universe is guiding you. You will be amazed.

Quote

* It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away." - President Abraham Lincoln

* When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place. - Anonymous

* Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give myself reasons why I can. - Anonymous

How Are Hopes, Dreams and Reality Related?

*** Views Today: 16,700 and Thank You!

*** The pressure of Life tests can act like an alarm clock awakening us to act.

From Denny: Sometimes, we can feel like Life is raining on our parade. The goal is to keep looking ahead for the light to guide us - or in funnier terms, "Look for the exit sign!" - especially when you are in a tough life test that feels like you are trapped in a maze. Life puts pressures on us all. It's that uncomfortable pressure that gives voice to the fact we need to move on from where we are because we are not growing. Those pressures act like a loud alarm clock to startle us fully awake to act.

The beauty of this quote is that it addresses being fully conscious, fully present, fully awake. These are the hallmarks of having achieved a deeper level of spiritual development: when you are aware every moment. The entire process of true spiritual development is our everyday conscious mind merging gracefully with our eternal spiritual mind, working in harmony each day.

Hope is a friend. Hope is a vehicle to take us to that greater state of development. Hope delivers us from only a dream into a beautiful reality worth staying awake to enjoy.

Quote

* For Hope is but the dream of those that wake. - Matthew Prior

Where Does Hope Guide Us On Our Life Path?

*** Views today: 7, 899 and Thank You!

*** Read an insightful quote about Hope that will put to rest all the naysayers against the practice of Hope as useful.

From Denny: Contemplation of one good thought like this quote can be illuminating. Did you ever consider the power of Hope from another angle other than to lift up our hearts from despair? Did you ever consider the power of Hope in another way other than to help give us the energy to struggle on? What's great about this quote is it's wisdom of how the Universe employs Hope to lead us on our spiritual path to our greatest achievements! It's like the old paraphrased adage: If you don't open the door, you can't walk into the room.

Quote

Hope: Unborn Baby Grabs onto Doctors Hand in Surgery

*** Views Today: 9,552 and Thank You!

*** Hope begins before we are born. Read baby Samuel's story.

From Denny: Hope begins in the silence of the darkest moment in our lives. Just like a small candle can suddenly illuminate a dark room, so too can Hope lift up our hearts to believe again after disappointment or failure.

The Beauty that shines from Hope is its courage to sing when we are overwhelmed by the dark, summoning the light, growing the light, causing us to become the light. Hope is a quiet Power found within all of us.

Quote

* Hope is like a bird that senses the dawn and carefully starts to sing while it is still dark. - Anonymous

Quoted from the photographer Faithful Chant on her flickr page:

A picture began circulating in November. It should be 'The Picture of the Year,' or perhaps, 'Picture of the Decade.' It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the U S paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it.

The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner.

The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta . She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.

During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. As Dr. Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger. Dr. Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile.

The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity. The editors titled the picture, 'Hand of Hope.' The text explaining the picture begins, 'The tiny hand of 21-week- old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life.'

Little Samuel's mother said they 'wept for days' when they saw the picture. She said, 'The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness; it's about a little person.' Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful.

Pass it on. The world needs to see this one!

111 Insightful Life Quotes

*** Give yourself some mind food to enjoy as you ponder your own place in the Universe.

*** Views Today: 11,754 and Thank You!

From Denny: What a quest this search turned out to be! We people types certainly have our opinions about what we think Life is all about. :) Whenever I'm pondering a concept - and in this case it's Life itself - I like to look at all the facets. It's the intense subtleties in Life, those minute shadings of meaning, that bring so much richness into our awareness.

And, since I so enjoy numbers and numerology, the number "1" kept showing up as a reminder to us that we all really are One in the great universal thought. We are expressed as those individual intense subtleties and facets in Life for we are all, collectively, Life celebrated.

3 Positive Attitude Quotes to Help Shape Your World

*** Views today: 7,291 and Thank You!

From Denny: Lately, the way the economy has been shifting continually under our feet, never knowing what to expect from month to month, it's a good idea to cultivate a positive attitude. After all, what does a negative attitude get us beyond a moment of acting like a safety valve to blow off frustration and anger?

The problem comes when we stay stuck in anger and frustration. When Life seems to be constantly coming at you - and you know darned well it isn't Lady Karma paying a visit but you have to deal with it anyway - catch your balance by giving yourself and your loved ones around you a refocus.

It's important for us not to react to situations but rather step back, slow down, think and then, after pondering for a while, even a few days, to then act. And when you do act, act in progressive stages, a slow step at a time and observe how the situation presents itself.

As you slow down the resolution of the issue you will be able to clearly see which step is the best to take and which step to succeed that one. Eventually, you work your way through the problem or situation. It seems to be in our American DNA that we want instant gratification and instant one step solutions to complex problems. Well, Life just doesn't work that way or they wouldn't call it "spiritual testing." :)

What's also important for our refocus is to remember we didn't come into this world just to pay bills but rather to impact our world in a positive light. In order to successfully fulfill ourselves we need to quit allowing others to keep our emotions in a tail spin like the tail wagging the dog.

We are spiritual people living in a physical world not the other way around. We have more power to address our circumstances if we only take the time to listen inwardly to our spiritual heart that contains all the wisdom of the ages and the universe.

To finish our refocus when Life presses in make sure to add Hope to the list. Hope keeps our attitude from falling off a cliff into despair. It's also a reminder that just as our situation changed for the negative or chaotic it will change again into the positive and the peaceful - if only we will focus upon that good thought. In no time Life will greet us with our positive focus as if to say, "I don't know what you were stressing about. See? You knew what to do all along and everything worked out right."

Mothers Day Quote: The Funny Stages of Motherhood

*** Views today: 9,034 and Thank You!

Photo by David Prior @ flickr

From Denny: Just in time to celebrate Mothers Day! This is a special quote about the stages of our lives in relationship to a person who figures prominently in our lives, for better or for worse: Mother.

When you were a child did you ever notice that your parents were growing up with you? That was a pretty astonishing observation that practically knocked me over when it struck my mind for a new awareness. I was three years old.

I soon realized that childhood was not all it was promised to be. From then on I started parenting my parents when they were so stressed they couldn't make decisions and move forward to resolve the situations. If my parents' friends and bosses only knew... :) Who said mothering only applied in the traditional sense?

The Stages Of Motherhood

4 Years Of Age - My Mommy can do anything
8 Years Of Age - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot
12 Years Of Age - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything
14 Years Of Age - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that either
16 Years Of Age - Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned
18 Years Of Age - That old woman? She's way out of date
25 Years Of Age - Well, she might know a little bit about it
35 Years Of Age - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion
45 Years Of Age - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it
65 Years Of Age - Wish I could talk it over with Mom...

What Spiritual Tests Develop Good Character And Our Talents?

*** Views today: 12,933 - Thank You!

From Denny: When you were growing up how many times did adults speak to you about developing good character? And if you became a parent or a teacher, did you also teach the same? But did you ever consider just how to go about developing and honing good character - or did you just follow the rules of life hoping that was enough to accomplish the goal?

The Way to Developing Good Character

Many times people confuse knowing about what defines good character versus actually developing it. It does seem to be a bother that the intellectual mind thinks it "knows it all" once it has familiarized itself with a subject.

But the problem lies in the areas of the emotional and spiritual minds, getting them disciplined so they can act in harmony to our benefit. It's one thing to memorize the facts yet quite another to apply them.

So, how do we apply what we think we know? Just sit still long enough and a life test will come your way in short order - just keep it in the back of your mind to be ready whenever it shows up on your doorstep. It's like the Universe is listening and says, "Looks like they are ready for the test. Let's see if they pass or fail." Invariably, life tests do not appear in a neat little package labeled "Life Test, Do Not Open Until Ready."

Those tests always catch us off guard until we are engaged into the drama and we suddenly realize what vortex we just got sucked into for a twilight zone experience. The key to doing well is to keep your emotions grounded, your rational mind ready to help you reason and your spiritual mind constantly praying to pave the way as you journey through the test. Many tests last for weeks and months, some years. Those that last a long time are comprised of stages of one large test. The harsher you are tested the more responsibility will be required of you.

You can have been trying to be a good person all your life and then suddenly you get hit with some harsh experience or a series of them. Getting tested isn't about being disciplined in the way of punishment. Think of it as a final exam on what you think you already know. By the time the test is finished - and you feel like one whipped puppy ready for a long nap - you will have truly learned that information from so many angles that there is no way you will ever need notes to teach on the subject. That information will have become as familiar and easy to access as the nose on your face by the time the spiritual Universe is done with you.

Oh, and don't worry, points are not deducted for griping, fussing and cussing from time to time when you are frustrated and don't fully understand what is expected of you. You will figure it out as you go and the frustration will ease up.

In the end, the only way to truly develop good character is to engage in life in the most unexpected and unplanned situations that come your way. Don't run from the responsibility because it will just chase you down later and be a much tougher test. In fact, each test you reject gets backlogged and heaped upon you with other tests all at once for what can feel like a crushing weight.

Do your best to keep a good humor and accept each test that comes your way. What you will find is that each test builds upon the previous one to help you build your character foundation. Each test is tailored to your personality and where you are in life that very moment.

The Way to Developing Our Talents

Have you ever noticed that you may be geared to action or passivity? You might be a person who finds it easy to make decisions. Your life tests will most likely be to wait and make no big decisions for months or years at a time. That can be quite maddening to an action oriented person used to being in charge of their life - and probably the lives of others around them. It will be a testing with immense frustration and impatience until you learn to conquer your will and learn patience and trust.

If you are a person who hates to make decisions and would prefer others to make them for you - you guessed it - your life tests will be to make decisions every time you turn around, often in a rapid fire sequence that will take your breath away. You will learn how to prioritize, organize and delegate or accept as your responsibility to carry out. It will be a testing fraught with intense fear until you conquer that fear.

So, what does all this testing have to do with developing your talents? Developing your talents requires a lot of solitude. During those down times while you are resting from the flurry of life tests you will seek out time alone to refresh and regroup. As you cultivate time to think deeply you will also cultivate your innate talents naturally.

Whatever you are drawn to do during these introspective sessions will mature over time. For instance, a coping skill for the stress you are experiencing during a life test could be working on some art project. It will soothe your rattled emotions, engage your curious intellect and give some time to your spiritual mind to do some more work without interference and interruption.

I always figured as I was going through my life tests that I wanted to have something to show for all that introspective time. :) So, I have plenty of interesting art that engaged my spiritual creativity, soothing tactile needlework when my emotions were turbulent, photography to record my natural world with my current perception and recording my thoughts, often as poems, as proof I lived those moments. Along the way, my skills improved and grew richer. A win-win in my book.

The thing about spiritual life is learning balance and timing. Life tests and deep thinking time, working as a team, help us achieve a richer balanced life.

Does Your Life Feel Like a Disaster?

*** Views today: 10,191 - Thank You!

Blue boat photo by cloudzilla @ flickr

From Denny: How easy it is to get our spirits down when Life jumps up and slaps us. I ran across this quote months ago and thought it wonderful then. Today it is even more poignant as I've watched the news. For months the American economy is in turmoil, people by the millions have lost jobs and not replaced them. Terrible earthquakes in Haiti and Chile have left families split apart and destitute.

With so much negativity going on, people look at each other and wonder what is there in Life to sing about? When tough times come along and enter our lives, it is important to take stock of even the smallest things for which we can be grateful.

Why is gratitude so important? Gratitude is powerful. It has the magic strength to heal our hearts when they hurt and are disappointed. Gratitude can help restore our hope. Gratitude helps us develop a new time line, a new path in Life. As you shift your focus to what gratitude reminds you, you will find you are digging yourself out of self-absorption and fear. Gratitude will free you from despair so you can move easily into the next phase of your life.

Included are a couple of links to previous posts, one about Haiti in the news. What the news clip shows is that the Haitians are not cursing God for their misfortune, rather they are literally singing. They choose to sing their way through tough times. What a powerful statement heard around the world!

3 Quotes About Facing Tough Times

From Denny: Today is Saint Patrick's Day. If there is anyone who understands how tough Life can get it was this man. He was stolen by pirates at the age of 16 from his wealthy family in Britain. He was sold as a slave to Ireland where he learned to tend sheep and learn the Irish language that few in Britain could speak or understand.

He knew loneliness and despair yet managed to keep going in spite of it. He was a slave for six years before finding a way to escape, an escape that was a run of 200 miles - and then there were more obstacles. The life tests just kept piling up on this man.

There are a couple of links to other posts on Saint Patrick and funny quotes for his special day where you can read a longer account of how he dealt with decades of tough times. One thing is for sure; he developed mental toughness.

As I researched about Patrick (real name Maewyn) I discovered that he lived a very long life plan. His was a spiritual path that took many unexpected twists and turns. There was no way he could predict what would happen next or how to handle it. He learned how to truly trust that Life would lead the way for where he was supposed to be, doing what was needed, intersecting with others at exactly the right moment. His life story is a fascinating tale of a spiritual seeker gliding from one moment to the next in complete faith.

It's not to say he did not question or worry or wonder "what now?" Every seeker feels and thinks those things. What's important is to take your focus off the negatives as soon as you observe your mind dwelling upon them. Shifting your focus also shifts your time line, your path in life.

What these three quotes offer today is how to develop mental toughness to handle whatever comes your way, to realize you can achieve what you admire in others if only you will begin at the beginning and take the time to develop and, most of all, nothing is that important to take desperate measures.

There is always Life after a disaster, be it a natural one like an earthquake or a personal one like a divorce or financial ruin. Nothing is important enough to warrant suicide. You, and your life are worthy, worthy to continue living.

Check out the links to Saint Patrick and find out how his life unfolded to understand your life will take decades to unfold fully. So, be patient. Go through the unpleasant times as easily as you enjoy the great times. Enjoy living!

Spiritual Energy: Can Simple Words Add to Our Quality of Life?

*** Views today: 9,992 - Thank You!

Awakening photo by Pyrogas Sipo

From Denny: From time immemorial humanity has been given warnings about using our words with forethought and not with rash or cruel intent. There are karmic backlashes to be experienced if we go too far. In every religion or spiritual discipline - from the pagan to Christian to the Koran, even to today's movie "The Secret" - words are examined as important for our personal vision.

The current toxic, and excessive, partisan politics as recently demonstrated by Republican Senator Jim Bunning holding up unemployment checks to the needy across America just to advance his political agenda to make a Democratic President look bad, is a fine example to illustrate. Lying, as is common with the current Republican Party political style, has repercussions as well. Sure, we can not all be expected to like each other - all warm and fuzzy and kum bah yah style - but we can make the effort for self-discipline in order to create a more civil society.

Have you ever noticed, whether it's in politics on a national level, or at home with one of your spouse's family members, that an individual on a scorching words self-destruct acts like a black hole with everyone around them? They literally suck all the joy and energy out of the atmosphere, leaving everyone around them exhausted from trying to counter or avoid them. We all have destructive work bosses, family members or "friends" like that at some point in our lives.

Sure, we all get angry about a situation or politics at one time or another. The energy of anger is to be treated carefully and respectfully. It is a powerful energy that we must learn how to discipline rightly if and when we use it. The true object of well managed anger is to correct an injustice, correct an unbalanced situation or bring awareness to someone not focused in that direction.

The way to that discipline is to not involve your personal ego in the anger. Tough to do at first. Ally your ego and spirit with that of your Higher Self, God, Spirit, All That Is (whatever your favorite term) and choose to see situations from that higher level.

When you feel anger come over you, ask how to dispense it properly. When done properly the energy of anger can bring excellent benefits for others in their lives - like when a child is properly disciplined without malice, abuse or violence. That child changes course and charts a more beneficial path because of a parent who could discipline their anger in order not to be destructive with that authority and energy. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of the energy of anger as a spiritual tool that must be treated with utmost care and respect.

Returning back to words in general affecting your vision, your life path and the lives of others... Keep in mind one thought every time you begin to speak or write: What do I wish to accomplish here? Is it for the betterment of others or is it only to give glory to my ego and my need for status or attention from others? This is the first step to learning how to handle the spiritual energy as it flows more and more to you from your Higher Self, Spirit.

There is nothing wrong about choosing not to fill the air with words just for the sake of making small talk conversation. It's fine to just observe others, wishing them goodwill in their attitudes toward those to whom they are speaking.

When you feel the inner urging, knowing it is time to speak, make it words that others will have food for thought for months and years down the road. My heart has always been warmed when someone brought up to me or my husband seven years later something we spoke to them as counsel for a situation. That recounting validates to us that we were giving out spiritual energy that benefited that person.

Words. They are tiny powerful things in our lives. Words can fly upon the wings of Spirit and make a better world. Have you considered your words today?

Quote

* But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling like dew, upon a thought, produces that which makes thousands, perhaps, millions: think. - Lord Byron
