A Note From Denny

Considering all the tough life tests going on all over the world right now, there is a need to find posts that can help us all grow in our awareness, on our individual spiritual path.

To begin, I've migrated my own best spiritual posts from the Beautiful Illustrated Quotations blog. Now I'm off in search of some great links to spiritual posts I find on spiritual and poetry blogs you will enjoy - and help you think through anything you may be experiencing at the moment. Even music lyrics can be spiritual.

My definition of "spiritual" is basic and wide in scope. It can include all the world's great religions or none at all. Too often "spiritual" is narrowly defined as meaning "religion" when that is far from the truth. Many poets do not consider their writing to be spiritual and yet it can contain spiritual elements. Other poets, notably Christian, think because they are writing positive things about Jesus then therefore it is spiritual. It may be good positive thoughts and praising of God yet may not meet the definition of spiritual because it is in the sphere of mental thought.

Spirituality has to do with reaching down deep inside ourselves to discover a new dimension we never knew we had. It's finding that extra bit of strength to push on when we thought we could not. It's holding onto Hope when there is nothing but despair all around us yet with Faith we instinctively know the situation will work out well in the end.

We discover our truest depth of our spirits when the Spirit of God tests us on the knowledge we think we know. It is only through testing that we come into understanding, an understanding often hard won. With knowledge and understanding comes wisdom. Then it's your time to look back behind you and seek out others who are struggling, comfort and assist them. It's the way of compassion and real Love. That's what the real Jesus Christ taught.
