From Denny: Leave it to a life long sensitive and spiritual poetess to create such an elegant line about Hope. Emily Dickinson was a severe introvert who explored her inner world like an extreme sport adventurer. She had little interest in her outer world, shunning it. Emily had few contacts with people outside her tight knit family and she preferred it that way. She lived a lot like a monk, contemplating God and the meaning of Life.
What I like about this particular quote is it elegantly describes - with stunning accuracy - how Hope lightly touches our souls. It's as if Hope gently glides in through the mists of our troubled minds and chaotic lives, quietly stroking our faces to engage. Then, once the glimmer of awareness peeks out to greet it, Hope settles in to be our silent constant companion to get us through the crisis.
